A satisfying rocket launch experience built in Unity, featuring realistic flight phases, dynamic physics interactions, and an immersive audio atmosphere inspired by real space missions.
🚀 Gameplay Systems Developed
Rocket Flight State Machine
Launch Phase – Player-initiated ignition with thrust force application, fuel consumption tracking, and exhaust visual effects
Thrust/Coast Phase – Post-fuel ascent utilizing remaining momentum, gradual velocity decay as gravity takes over
Descent Detection – Automatic state transition when upward velocity depletes and the rocket begins falling
Parachute Deployment – Altitude-triggered chute activation with drag force application for controlled descent and safe landing
Physics & Forces
Rigidbody-Based Flight – Realistic thrust application using Unity's physics system for authentic rocket behavior
Fuel System – Consumable fuel resource that directly affects thrust duration and flight ceiling
Wind Force Zones – Environmental wind areas that apply lateral forces to the rocket, adding unpredictability and challenge to landings
Parachute Drag Simulation – Increased drag coefficient upon deployment, slowing descent to safe landing speeds
Menu & Audio Systems
Main Menu – Stylized interface with atmospheric music setting the tone for the experience
Sound Options Menu – Audio mixer integration with slider controls for master, music, and SFX volume adjustment
Radio Chatter Ambience – In-game background audio featuring mission control-style radio communications for immersive atmosphere
Game Flow
Scene Management – Clean transitions between menu and gameplay scenes
Launch Sequence – Complete player-controlled experience from ignition to touchdown
